If the weapon is brought into Denmark in connection with a competition or for hunting, a weapon pass (for EU citizens) or weapon permit (for non-EU citizens) is required as well as a documented invitation. Further information regarding the rules on Firearms and ammunition is available from the Danish Ministry of Justice.
Stabbing, striking, thrusting weapons etc. It is illegal to bring in, purchase, possess, carry or use the following without permission from the police: Sharp or pointed weapons with a blade exceeding 12 cm. push daggers, flick-knives and spring stilettos, fall knives and fall stilettos, pocket-knives that can be operated with one hand (quick draw knives) and pocket-knives with two split handle where the blade can unfold by the use of one hand (butterfly knives), knives that are made to hang around the neck or shoulder and which from this location can be drawn by the use of one hand, martial arts weapons such as throwing stars, throwing knives and similar, sticks containing knives and similar weapons that do not look like weapons, striking or thrusting weapons, such as knuckledusters, totenschlaegers, rubber truncheons and similar, weapons that are used to paralyse, stun or blind by the use of electric currents, spray cans for self-defence use e.g. tear gas ampoules, tear gas spray cans and tear gas shells.
Daggers and knives with a blade larger than 12 cm may be used in businesses, in households or in connection with hunting, angling or sports diving without permission if they are designed for such use. The same applies to striking weapons for hunting or angling.
The above-mentioned weapons may furthermore be purchased, owned and carried without permission - and as regards daggers and knives also be brought in - for the use mentioned above. Contact the police for other use.
Note: It is illegal to carry knives and daggers in public places, educational institutions, youth clubs, after-school centres etc. unless it is part of the carrying out of business, for use in connection with hunting, angling or sports or has a similar accepted purpose. The ban does, however, not include pocket-knives with a blade of less than 7 cm that cannot be locked when unfolded.
The police may establish special, sign-posted search zones, where it is illegal to carry weapons. With authority in the Police Act, the police may search people without having a substantiated suspicion that they carry weapons if they are in such a zone.
