When is the best time to go?
Denmark has a mild climate with no extremes of heat or cold. In the light summer months of June to August, the average daytime temperature is 19.5 degrees Celsius and in February - the coldest month - the average is 1.2 degrees Celsius. This makes the weather in Copenhagen much more like the weather in London or Amsterdam than that of the other Scandinavian capitals. Winter camping
Camping holidays in Denmark are traditionally a summer pastime and the vast majority of campers visit the campsites during the summer months. But not all campers are discouraged when the thermometer shows lower temperatures. More and more campers go camping all year round – and since modern caravans are now so well insulated, an autumn storm or a night frost does not present any problem. However, winter camping is not the sole domain of caravan owners. Heated cabins are available at many of the campsites, which remain open during the winter. The standard of cabins varies (cf. “Camping cabin rental”) and you can choose how many nights you want to rent the cabin for – as long as you remember to book in advance. Under all circumstances, it is advisable to contact the campsite you wish to visit to find out which activities, facilities, etc., are on offer during the winter period. Search for camp sites here.
