Slettestrand is a recreational area with some of the most beautiful and varied natural surroundings that Denmark has to offer. Slettestrand has a beautiful wide sandy beach with occasional stones and a blue flag. The beach is protected by a range of low dunes and driving on the beach is not permitted. On the superlative bathing beach you will find a disused lifeboat station, and close by the fishermen still haul their cutters onto the beach every day on their return home. Slettestrand is unusual in remaining an active fishing village. The beach is also popular with the locals. The old fishing village lies in delightful countryside close to Fosdalen, Langdalen, Svinklovene, Bulbjerg and the bird reserve "Vejlerne". Exciting attractions such as the "Lien" art museum, Billedstedet and Svinkløv Badehotel, which is famous throughout Denmark, are not far away either.
In and around Slettestrand there are a range of shops as well as a variety of restaurants and cafés and various types of accommodation such as holiday centres, hotels and holiday cottages. The beautiful surroundings have attracted a number of artists who live and work in the area. You’ll find ceramics, paintings, glassware and raku, (Japanese pottery) exhibited and manufactured locally.

The landscapes of Slettestrand are many and varied. There are sandy beaches and dunes, woodland and heath, meadows and fertile farmland just waiting to be rambled around. Serviceable, marked paths in the area between Slettestrand, Svinkløv and Grønne Strand lead you through the most attractive areas and if you’re lucky you may catch a glimpse of the deer.
The River Slette runs between the be-planted dunes and you can also follow an old German concrete track that will take you through the forest and out to 'Sømærket'. Here you find yourself raised high above the sea and can enjoy beautiful views across the North Sea and the surrounding landscapes that stretch as far as the eye can see. Fosdalen is a large, undulating and charming valley with a stream running through it. The valley reaches its end in the country's largest inland incline, Lien. The 66 metre high slope takes us from Tranum to Grønne Strand.
